Exploring the Different Regions of Thailand

What You Need to Know about Bangkok Car Rentals

When you mention the Southeast Asian region, the first name that usually comes to mind is the city of Bangkok. Over the years, Thailand has built a reputation of being the go-to place in the region where travellers from all over the world flock to.

What’s good about visiting Thailand and Bangkok in particular is that its modern city is pleasantly mixed with the ancient temples, old canals and busy markets – while teeming with a dynamic nightlife. When visiting Thailand’s capital, there are plenty of must-see sights and must-do activities. You can take a trip to the commercial core of Bangkok which is Siam Square, explore the city’s financial area of Silom or go from one temple to another as you visit Old Bangkok or Rattanakosin.
What You Need to Know about Bangkok Car Rentals

Now, the way that you will get around while visiting Bangkok will depend on what your travel itinerary looks like. If you are out on a company-sponsored business trip, you might not have any problems getting to your destination with a chauffeur. If you are a backpacking traveller, you can simply use the public transportation system so that you can have a feel of how the locals live.

Or, you can go to one of the many establishments offering Bangkok car rentals. Just as it is when renting cars from other countries, there are a few things that you nee to keep in mind when taking advantage of Bangkok car rentals. Take a look at the following list:

Keep in mind that the people of Thailand drive on the left.
If you’re from a country which has a right-side driving policy, you might need to reacquaint yourself with the streets of Bangkok. The people here drive on the left and if you are not used to such systems, it might be safer to stick to taking public transport.

Make sure that you are driving within speed limits.
In Thailand, the speed limit within cities is 60 km/hour while between motorways and country roads, you can drive up to 100 km/hour.

Be careful when braving Bangkok’s streets at night.
Your rental car might be in peak condition, but the local’s motorcycles and cars may not have fully functioning lights. This will not work to your advantage as a driver, so be extremely careful when driving at night.

Use your rental car to go on a road trip to discover more of what Thailand has to offer – but keep your route only on the safe streets.
There are plenty of safe routes that you can take when exploring more of what Thailand has to offer when you are behind the wheels of your rental car. You can find some dense jungle and beautiful jungles driving north, while gorgeous beaches are what you will find down south.

Even if you’re an expert driver, it might be tricky for you to navigate through unfamiliar streets, especially if you’re not used to the heavy traffics of Bangkok. Keep this in mind before trying to rent a vehicle in Thailand and driving through public roads yourself.
